Day 4 in Canada

Greetings from Prince George, BC

June 21st

We left Quesnell (pronounced Quenell) at 8:00, very early for us, we wanted to go to Barkerville, about 50 miles, before heading to Prince George.  Just north of town we took Hwy 26 up into the mountains to the historic mining town of Barkerville.  Billy Barker, an English prospector arrived in BC in 1862 to spearhead the gold rush, today the historic town of Barkerville is an authentic, world-class heritage experience giving tourists the opportunity to revisit the Cariboo Gold Rush though preservation of the buildings, stories and activities.  Declared a National Historic Site of Canada in 1924, it's now the largest living history museum in western North America.  The park is 1130 acres with 107 heritage buildings, 62 replicated, 4 historic cemeteries and a 200,000 plus collection of items.  The historic Chinese section has one of the oldest set of Chinese historic buildings in Canada. The staff working in the village wear period clothing and speak as if it's the 1800's,  as you stroll through the village looking at private residences and businesses they share bits of history. A great place, plus you get two days admission for the price of one.

We left Barkerville about 1:00 for our drive to Prince George, including the side trip to Barkerville, our mileage for the day was 167 miles.  We arrived at Sintich RV park about 3:00, we have a lovely pull-thru site.  Happiness is a pull-thru.  About 5pm I walked down to the office to register (they were closed when we arrived)
as I walked to the office  I saw lightning and heard thunder. (T & L scare the whits out of me)  As I was walking back I started to feel raindrops, by the time I got to the coach (about  half the length of football field) I got absolutely soaked!!!!!!!!

We leave in the morning for Dawson Creek, our departure location for our Alaska tour.

That's it for today, enjoy the pic's.
