New Years 2015

Happy New Year!

It seems like just yesterday we brought in 2014 at Bayview RV Resort.  This is our last week here in Rockport, we've been here since Nov. 1st, now 8 weeks later we are preparing to leave for parts east.
It has been so much fun here we hate to think about leaving but on the other hand our wanderlust is taking over.  Maybe our blog will include something besides happy hours and dinners.

Sunday, Dec. 28th,  The weather was lousy all day, the only time I left the coach was to play Pegs and Jokers.  We met Marv and Shirley from Illinois, they are the ones who introduced Gail and RJ to the game.  Marv was to my right, he sent me home so many times I couldn't get anywhere.  It's only a game, right?  We came back in time to watch the Seahawks beat the Rams 20-6 giving them the first seed in the NFC and a first round bye.  That means they have the home field through out the play-offs.  Maybe there is a repeat Super Bowl in their future.

Monday, Dec. 29th, We woke up to a beautiful day, Gary rode 15 miles while I was at Snap. Later we took Luci out for a mile and a half walk along the back roads.  One time we walked by a pasture and there were some  miniature ponies, she charged up to the fence like she owned the place until one of the ponies also ran up.  That scared the "dickens" out of her, now anytime we walk by the area she gives that fence a wide berth.  I watched some college bowl games while Gary researched cameras.  Our old one after thousands of "snaps" is starting to act up.

Wednesday, Dec. 31st, Another cold front blew in yesterday that kept us "house" bound.  Gary had to go to Corpus Christi for a follow-up appointment with the dermatologist.  We dropped Luci at Salty Dog doggie day care to run some of her spent up energy out of her.   After, we went to the commissary at NASCC for groceries and NEX to check out the camera Gary had decided upon.  We had talked about choosing the camera so when I'm in Oregon I can buy it without having to pay tax.  Turned out the camera was on sale so it came  home with us.  He chose the Canon Power Shot SX700, the zoom has a 28X telephoto lens. The New Year's Eve party was an appetizer pot luck with music by Jef Wilson, the same fellow as last year.  That is Jef with one f.  Gary had a great time with his new camera, I've included several pictures of the evening.  We weren't sure we were going to make it to midnight, dancing and visiting kept us awake to toast the new year.  Art, 86, had a good time dancing with the girls and guys too.  Hope I'm that "spunky" at 86.

Happy New Year!  The weather wasn't as cold as yesterday so we started the day and the New Year with a walk along Fulton Beach Road.  Gary experimented with the zoom on his new camera.  At 1:00 we had lunch/dinner at the clubhouse.  Betty made pork loin with sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, applesauce and a nice light dessert.  The best part of the day was watching the Oregon Ducks beat Florida State in the semi-final game for the national championship for college football.  Almost as good was watching Alabama lose to Ohio State.  RJ, is an Ohio State alum, we'll have a good time exchanging "barbs".

Friday, January 2nd, A drizzly day but we walked the beach road anyway, Gary experimented with the zoom on his new camera.  After happy hour, we went to dinner with RJ, Gail, Bob and Sharon.  We had planned to go back to Hatfield's BBQ to listen to the band that was so fun a couple of weeks ago but they weren't playing so we went to Caparelli's had great laughs and good Italian food.

Saturday, January 3rd, the sun is coming out!  We did our walk along the beach road in the morning, I'll sure miss the walks along the water.  For dinner we had the last of the salmon that Micah, our son-in-law caught on the Columbia River.
